BUTTE, Mont. (AP) - A 90-year-old Butte woman was killed when she was hit by her car after a trip to the grocery store.
Sheriff Ed Lester says the woman had stopped her car facing uphill, got out and opened the passenger side door to unload groceries when the car began rolling. She was pinned between the door and a utility pole and suffered head and chest injuries Thursday evening.
Responding officers freed the woman, who died a short time later at St. James Healthcare.
Lester says the woman’s death was an accident. Her car was still in drive and the parking brake was not set.
The woman’s name was being withheld while family members were notified.
