FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - The disaster recovery center opened in Franklin County to help people after storms last month will close Saturday.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency also said it has added eight counties to those eligible for storm recovery assistance. They are Carter, Floyd, Lincoln, Nicholas, Owen, Pike, Spencer and Whitley.

The Franklin County center will close at 6 p.m. EDT.

FEMA says help for people who had losses will still be available. Teams will work in storm-stricken areas and can help with mobile applications, updates and referrals to additional resources.
