GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) - A Waveland doctor has been denied bond on charges in an alleged pill mill case.
The Sun Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1c94cHm ) U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert Walker ordered Dr. Steve Morris III be held until his trial. Morris appeared in federal court Thursday.
Morris has been in custody since last week when local and federal authorities raided Morris’ internal medicine clinic, Total Health Solutions on U.S. Highway 90 in Waveland, and arrested Morris and two other health care workers, Peggy Laporte and Brittany Spikes.
They are charged with conspiracy, and aiding and abetting one another to possess, distribute and dispense controlled substances outside the scope of a professional practice.
Each has pleaded not guilty. They are scheduled for trial on the court calendar beginning July 6.
