HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) - A dying father got his last wish: seeing his daughter graduate from high school.

WSAZ-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1ISPW2u ) Aristotle Svingos, who is battling terminal cancer, says his last goal was to watch his youngest daughter Maria Simone walk across the stage during her graduation Thursday at Big Sandy Superstore Arena.

In 2013, Svingos had open heart surgery. That’s when doctors discovered he had multiple myeloma, a cancer affecting blood cells in the bone marrow.

Svingos says he’s very proud of his daughter, who has been a huge help to him and supported him the past three years.
