BEND, Ore. (AP) - Federal grant money is making training available to about half the workers who lost jobs when Woodgrain Millwork’s roof collapsed in November.

The Bend Bulletin reports (https://bit.ly/1cSdrMP) about 200 employees were laid off after the collapse, and a handful who have been unable to find other sources of employment are about to run out of state unemployment compensation.

Almost $500,000 in grant money is being made available to help retrain 100 workers in a new skill that’s in demand for central Oregon. The Central Oregon Intergovernmental Council is administering the grant, and training will likely take place out of Central Oregon Community College.
