ENUMCLAW, Wash. (AP) - A King County sheriff’s spokesman says two young boys described as best friends have been seriously injured in an explosion outside a home in Enumclaw, Washington.

A fire official says the boys apparently were using gasoline at a campfire. KCPQ-TV reports that King County Fire District 28 Chief Randy Fehr says a 10-year-old boy suffered burns over 80 percent of his body Friday afternoon. He was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Fehr says the second boy, now described as 9 years old, suffered burns to less than 10 percent of his body. He was taken to Harborview by medics.

The sheriff’s spokesman says detectives are investigating the case as a tragic accident.

Enumclaw is about 35 miles southeast of Seattle.
