DAYTON, Ohio (AP) - Firefighters have contained a fire on the roof of a hotel at Ohio’s largest military base.
Officials say it broke out on the roof of the Hope Hotel at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton just before 9 p.m. Thursday. The blaze sent thick black smoke billowing into the air.
Firefighters say the roof is being renovated and overheated roofing materials may have caught fire.
Nearly 100 people were evacuated during the fire. No injuries have been reported.
A restaurant at the hotel will remain closed throughout the night. But those staying at the hotel have been allowed back inside.
