FARGO, N.D. (AP) - A former nurse accused of having sex with a male inmate at the Cass County Jail in Fargo has changed her plea.

Claire Schwehr, of Dilworth, Minnesota, has entered Alford pleas to delivering an electronic device to an inmate and sexual abuse of a ward. That means she maintains her innocence but acknowledges a jury would likely convict her.

KFGO radio reports (https://bit.ly/1HyPTaD ) that the sexual abuse charge was reduced from a felony to a misdemeanor, meaning Schwehr will not have to register as a sex offender. A sentencing date was not immediately set.

Schwehr worked for Fargo-Cass Public Health when prosecutors say she provided the inmate with a cellphone, tobacco and beef jerky. The inmate said Schwehr eventually seduced him.
