KETCHUM, Idaho (AP) - A judge has ordered a new evaluation to determine if a man accused of killing a Camas County businessman twelve years ago is mentally fit to stand trial.
The Idaho Mountain Express reports (https://bit.ly/1HmCGik ) the judge’s ruling in the case of 37-year-old Harley Park came after a motion for mental evaluation was filed by both the defense and prosecution.
Park was being held in a psychiatric hospital until April after being charged in the 2003 death of 61-year-old Lynn Stevenson.
The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare determined that Park’s mental condition had improved enough that he could assist with his own defense at trial.
Park is now being held in the Elmore County Jail.
The judge has tasked the defense and prosecution to mutually agree on a new mental examiner.
