EFFINGHAM, N.H. (AP) - A New Hampshire facility for people with brain injuries that faced scrutiny following reports of abuse and neglect is closing for now.
WMUR-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1KozoS2) the CEO of Lakeview Neuro-Rehabilitation Center, Christopher Slover, said he hopes to find a new owner. The Effingham facility said last month it was bringing in new leadership.
The current announcement was made following a decision by the state Board of Education upheld a decision to close the special education program at Lakeview School, which too, has been plagued with problems.
The state conducted its own investigations of both Lakeview and the Department of Health and Human Services’ oversight and licensing of the facility following complaints filed by the Disability Rights Center. The state found chronic staffing problems and deficiencies in communication and crisis management.
