WEST JORDAN, Utah (AP) - A 19-year-old man charged for strangling a Taylorsville woman to death last year has been sentenced.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1HyGujb ) Bryan Quintanilla was sentenced Friday in 3rd District Court to serve 25 years to life for murder and five years to life for robbery.

Quintanilla had pleaded guilty to aggravated murder and aggravated robbery in April, about one year after 59-year-old Margaret Steffey was found dead in her home. A medical examiner determined that she died from blunt force trauma, suffocation and strangulation.

Court documents report Steffey’s debit card had been used to withdraw more than $1,500. Investigators say surveillance videos linked the 18-year-old Quintanilla to the withdrawals.

Quintanilla apologized to Steffey’s family and has blamed drugs for his actions in the murder.
