EAST GREENBUSH, N.Y. (AP) - A New York City man is behind bars after state police say he fled from a traffic stop on an Albany-area highway and rammed two trooper cars during a chase.

Officials say a trooper tried to pull over 28-year-old Jacob Loewentheil of Manhattan for speeding Thursday on Interstate 90 in the Rensselaer County town of East Greenbush.

Police say Loewentheil sped away. Several other troopers joined the pursuit as he exited the interstate briefly and drove on local roads before getting back on I-90.

He was finally stopped on the highway’s westbound lanes at the Patroon Island Bridge. Police say he rammed two trooper cars before being apprehended.

The charges against him include reckless endangerment and fleeing from a police officer.

Loewentheil is being held Friday in the county jail. Information on his lawyer wasn’t available.
