SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - The pilot of a small airplane that crashed into the Spokane River this month was on final approach to Felts Field when the plane banked sharply and veered out of control just as it reached the runway.
That’s according to a preliminary accident report released Friday by the National Transportation Safety Board.
The Spokesman-Review reported that two men died in the May 7 crash.
The two men were taking the Piper PA 46-350P for what was supposed to be a 40-minute test flight that afternoon. But they encountered problems shortly after taking off from Felts Field.
Felts Field is a small airport located along the Spokane River.
