GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) - Authorities say the officer who shot and killed a Grand Junction teen after a fatal car accident is 17-year patrolman Martin Donohue.
The Daily Sentinel reports (https://bit.ly/1AoYnkE) Donohue is on paid leave while investigations unfold both inside the department and at the 21st Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team.
Personnel records show one sustained complaint and eight citizen commendations in five years for the officer.
Police say 17-year-old David Gaines fled an accident Tuesday that killed 57-year-old motorcyclist Preston Ellis. Gaines was armed with a rifle when he attempted to pull a woman from her vehicle and came in contact with officers.
The Grand Junction Police Department has declined to comment on the shooting itself.
