PROVO, Utah (AP) - Police say a 60-year-old woman found strangled in her Provo home this week was likely murdered.

Officers did not immediately name a suspect Thursday in the death of Belen Perez, who was found with a cord around her neck and a strong chemical that might have been bleach poured over her body.

Police say she was found by her son Wednesday lying on the floor with her phone just out of reach. Provo Police Lt. Mathew Siufanua says that while medical examiners could not say for sure if she was murdered, police are investigating the death as a homicide.

Neighbors remembered her as a sweet, gentle woman who liked working in her yard.

The Deseret News reports (https://bit.ly/1AoSnZj) that anyone with information about the death is asked to call police.
