NEW YORK (AP) - A preservationist has been chosen as executive director of the New York City mayor’s official residence, Gracie Mansion.

The Daily News (https://nydn.us/1ISYpTt ) said Friday that Paul Gunther has written extensively on architecture, landscape design and art history.

Gunther is described as a longtime admirer of the historic mansion.

He says he’s committed to its role as a source of civic pride and public education.

Gunther replaces Meredith Horsford. She left the post in December to spend more time with her family.
