MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Wildlife officials are unveiling a unique hunting trophy in Montgomery: The largest American alligator ever killed in the wild.

State conservation officials and others will be on hand Friday in Montgomery as the massive, mounted gator goes on display at the Montgomery Zoo.

Mandy Stokes of Thomaston killed the alligator last August while hunting with relatives on the Alabama River near Camden in Wilcox County.

The 15-foot, 9-inch gator weighed 1,011 pounds. It was certified as a world record by Safari Club International.

The alligator was skinned and mounted for display. It will located in a learning center at the Montgomery Zoo.
