WATERLOO, Neb. (AP) - A teenage girl has been taken to a hospital after being injured at a state park near Waterloo in eastern Nebraska.

The Omaha World-Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1EnR5Jf ) that Waterloo Fire & Rescue took the 16-year-old to Methodist Women’s Hospital early Friday morning.

Waterloo Fire Chief Todd Harlow told the newspaper that the girl was camping with friends at Two Rivers State Recreation Area, near one of the lakes. A friend of the girl called 911 around 1:30 a.m., fearing that the girl had entered the river and needed help.

Harlow says the boats his department deployed weren’t needed because the girl was found on a shore.
