PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) - Forecasters warn that southeasterly winds may create rough surf across the Florida Panhandle beaches just in time for the long Memorial Day weekend.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Cody Lindsey told the Pensacola News Journal (https://on.pnj.com/1Hmyv6g ) that winds should pick up over the northern Gulf of Mexico on Saturday. He says winds in Pensacola Beach could be between 12 to 17 miles per hour and may reach 23 mph on Sunday.
That means beachgoers should be aware of the conditions throughout the weekend. Officials say rip currents can be dangerous and beachgoers should watch the warning flags before venturing into the water.
