DERBY, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a 14-year-old girl is hospitalized with serious injuries after she fell about 100 feet off a cliff along the Lake Erie shoreline outside Buffalo.
Emergency officials say the girl was walking with a friend along the cliff in the hamlet of Derby early Thursday evening when she fell and landed on a narrow stretch of beach about 10 miles southwest of Buffalo.
A rescue team used ropes to get to the girl and treat her injuries, which included multiple fractures. A boat was used to transport her to a nearby marina, where a helicopter took her to a Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo.
Information on her condition isn’t available Friday morning.
