GEORGIA, Vt. (AP) - State Police say a fatal motorcycle crash occurred after a 30-second police pursuit on back roads.

Police say 20-year-old Timothee Morgan, of St. Albans, was killed Friday night in the Franklin County town of Georgia.

Authorities say a sheriff’s deputy spotted the motorcycle speeding shortly before midnight. The deputy said he tried to pull over the motorcycle but the driver sped off. The deputy said he then followed the speeding motorcycle and caught up to it on Polly Hubbard Road but then lost sight of it.

The deputy said he slowed down and searched for the motorcycle and then spotted the crash.

Morgan was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say it appears speed and negligent operation are the primary factors in the crash.
