KILLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - About 500 bicyclists from around the country and Canada are expected to participate in the Killington Stage Race over the Memorial Day weekend.
The event takes place from Saturday through Monday in Killington.
It features a series of races that cover varying distances and terrain.
Race director Gary Kessler tells the Rutland Herald (https://bit.ly/1c9sRLY ) that spectators can see 100 cyclists sprinting.
Tom Donahue, executive vice president of the Rutland Region Chamber of Commerce, says the event is an economic boon to the region. He says it brings racers, families, supporters and spectators to the area, providing the regional economy with nearly $700,000.
