BOWDOINHAM, Maine (AP) - Friends of Merrymeeting Bay is holding its annual spring cleanup of the Merrymeeting Bay Wildlife Sanctuary in Bowdoinham.
The group was looking for volunteers to help clean the sanctuary on Saturday at Abbagadassett Point. The bay is the confluence of six rivers. Friends of Merrymeeting Bay say the annual cleanup of the bay is critical because the bay drains water from nearly two-fifths of the state. The event takes place at low tide, so the group asks volunteers to dress for the mud.
