DETROIT (AP) - After 89 years, a Catholic church in Detroit will hold its last Sunday Mass.

St. Patrick Church is in the city’s Midtown area behind Orchestra Hall, just off Woodward Avenue. Archdiocese spokesman Joe Kohn tells the Detroit Free Press (https://on.freep.com/1Q35DVg ) that the church could reopen for regular services someday as the neighborhood’s popularity grows.

Kohn says the parish is down to about 70 families. Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Sunday.

The St. Patrick Senior Center, which provides meals, will remain open next door.
