Laramie school tops high school on rankings list

LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - Laramie High School is ranked as the No. 1 high school in Wyoming by U.S. News and World Report.

Nationally, the Laramie school placed 1,129th out of 19,753 ranked schools this year.

The Laramie Boomerang reports (https://bit.ly/1F8meBQ ) that Jackson Hole High School, Sheridan High School and Central High School in Cheyenne were ranked second, third and fourth in the state, respectively.

U.S. News determines high school rankings on the basis of three categories: mathematics proficiency, reading proficiency and college readiness. The final factor considers student performance compared to the state average, disadvantaged students’ performance and student performance on Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate tests.

The calculations are based on reported data for the 2012-2013 academic year.
