BROOKHAVEN, Miss. (AP) - A Brookhaven man has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in a fatal Christmas Eve shooting.

Washington was indicted in March for one count of first-degree murder and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.



Police say the two men exchanged words while Wilson was still in his vehicle. Wilson and his girlfriend then drove to a different house to drop off some Christmas gifts, and at some point when she returned to the car, she and other witnesses told police they saw Washington shoot Wilson.
