FREEHOLD, N.J. (AP) - Monmouth County officials say they have broken up a heroin drug ring and arrested 14 people after an eight-month investigation in the Bayshore region.

Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher Gramiccioni tells NJ.com (https://bit.ly/1F8eKyP) members of the ring sold heroin almost daily from Monmouth and Middlesex counties.

Officials recovered 8,100 bags of heroin packaged for sale as well as 4 ounces of raw heroin, 5 ounces of cocaine and three cars that were used to distribute the drugs.

Officials say several of those implicated in the drug ring were members of the same family.

Grammiccioni says the string was called “Operation Family Tides.”
