CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - There’s a question bugging a Wyoming town of about 1,000 people: Where does the mayor live?

In Moorcroft, it seems, nobody is quite sure—and the answer could settle questions about whether Mayor Steve Sproul has been paying enough in taxes.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1JK93wy ) that the address Sproul says he lives at is being taxed as vacant property by the county assessor.

Crook County Assessor Theresa Curren says she sent a tax notice of $299 to the Sprouls in April. The charges would have been higher for a house on the lot. Curren says a house valued at $150,000 would be taxed at about $1,000 a year.

The property owner would be responsible for telling her if he built a house, says Cullen.

Sproul said Friday he was unaware of the issue.
