Police: Child, 3, killed after playing with gun in Jackson

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - A 3-year-old child has been fatally shot after witnesses say the child was playing with a gun.

Multiple media outlets report witnesses told the Jackson Police Department the child died from a self-inflicted wound Friday night.

The incident happened at an apartment complex in northern Jackson, near Tougaloo College.

Neither the child’s identity nor gender has been released.
