PHOENIX (AP) - Police shut down a Phoenix intersection for two hours on behalf of a small, fuzzy gray cat trapped in a storm drain.

KSAZ-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1EpsnIo ) that the Arizona Humane Society had been monitoring the animal, nicknamed Stormy, for about a week.

On Friday, human society worker Bernard Durance was lowered into the storm drain. He navigated the underground pathways with help from City of Phoenix workers until he found Stormy stuck in a pipe and scared to come down.

Durance says he grabbed the cat but its scruff and put it in a net, allowing workers to pull it to safety.

Stormy will go up for adoption once he gets a clean bill of health.
