BILOXI, Miss. (AP) - Windy Swetman III is pulling out of the Harrison County supervisor race and won’t seek re-election.
According to local media reports, Swetman filed a letter with the Harrison County circuit clerk’s office Friday.
Swetman has been supervisor since 2007. His term ends Dec. 31.
His departure leaves Republicans Todd J. Echelberry, Beverly Martin and Johnny Rhodes and Libertarian Donald Todd running for supervisor.
Swetman was defeated by Andrew “FoFo” Gilich in a May 12 runoff for Biloxi mayor.
Swetman has spent more than two decades in the public sector, either working for law enforcement or serving on the board of supervisors. He says he’s ready to become a private citizen.
