ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Albuquerque police have called off SWAT officers following a standoff with an armed resident making threats.

Police spokesman Fred Duran said Sunday morning that a SWAT team spent hours trying to speak with the man, who was on the roof of a home with several weapons.

Duran says since the other occupants of the home were all in safe locations, police will pursue the suspect through a criminal summons.

Officers were initially dispatched to the home on Guaymas Place for a domestic violence call that escalated.

The suspect allegedly had a rifle and threatened to have a shootout with police.

Witnesses say he also fired a shot into the air from the roof.

Duran says police are not release the suspect’s identity since the investigation is still ongoing.
