HYATTSVILLE, Md. (AP) - Authorities say a 7-year-old boy was killed when a motorcycle collided with a car and crashed into him as he was waiting to cross a street.

The crash occurred Saturday afternoon on East West Highway in the Hyattsville area. Prince George’s County police say the motorcycle collided with a car that was making a left turn into a shopping center.

The motorcycle then struck four pedestrians who were standing at the crosswalk, including 7-year-old Alejandro Santos. The boy was taken to a hospital, where he died.

The three other people standing at the crosswalk were also hurt. Two other children were injured, one of them critically, and a man also suffered life-threatening injuries.

Police say the speed of the motorcycle appears to be a factor in the crash.
