CHICAGO (AP) - A hospital says the condition of a 4-year-old girl shot in the head in Chicago has improved.

A brief statement Sunday from Comer Children’s Hospital says that Jacele Johnson’s condition has been upgraded from critical to serious. It didn’t provide details.

She was shot outside a home in where relatives were attending a high school prom party. She underwent surgery to remove a bullet from her head.

A 17-year-old cousin of the girl and another teenage bystander were also struck and injured in the shooting in the Englewood neighborhood. Both were hospitalized.

Police say the victims were hit by a gunman firing from a vehicle at another car parked outside the prom party.
