JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Deputies are trying to figure out if a woman found dead in an Onslow County creek suffered a medical problem or was killed by someone else.

Sheriff Hans Miller told media outlets two fishermen discovered the body after dark Friday in a creek west of Jacksonville.

Miller says deputies are reviewing evidence found at the creek and waiting for results from an autopsy scheduled for Tuesday before determining what happened to the woman. The sheriff says investigators are also trying to collect information about the victim’s life to piece together what might have happened.

Her name has not been released.
