TULSA, Okla. (AP) - Flash flood warnings are in effect in nine eastern Oklahoma counties as a large area of thunderstorms moves into the area.
The National Weather Service says that between 1 and 3 inches of rain fell over the region Sunday morning. Forecasters say as much as 3 more inches of rainfall is possible Sunday afternoon.
With the ground already saturated from recent rainfall, flash flooding is likely. While precipitation may taper off in some areas, it will take time for any high water to run off.
The flash flood warning is in effect until 10 p.m. Sunday in all of Adair, Choctaw, Haskell, Latimer, Le Flore, Pushmataha and Sequoyah counties and parts of Cherokee and Delaware counties.
