FARMINGTON, Maine (AP) - A Maine grand jury has indicted a University of Maine at Farmington senior on a felony sex assault charge.
The Portland Press Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1LyODpb ) that 23-year-old Frank Makuch of Storrs, Connecticut, was indicted on a charge of gross sexual assault by a Franklin County grand jury on Friday.
The crime is a Class A felony punishable by up to 30 years in prison and a fine of up to $50,000.
Makuch is a senior and played on the college’s rugby football club.
No accurate phone listing for Makuch could be found. It was not immediately known if he has a lawyer.
The newspaper reports that Walter Hanstein, the rugby team coach who also said he would represent Makuch, withdrew as his lawyer.
Makuch was arrested in April.
