NEW YORK (AP) - One woman is dead and another is facing drunken-driving charges after a car crash in Harlem.
Police say 24-year-old Shanelle Emanuel, of Bayonne, New Jersey, was driving north on the Harlem River Drive at about 5:40 a.m. Sunday when she lost control of the car and hit a tree.
Emanuel’s passenger, 24-year-old Kiara Jenkins, of Jersey City, was taken to Harlem Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Emanuel was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated and driving without a license.
It wasn’t clear if she had an attorney who could comment on the charges.
