NEW YORK (AP) - Police say a suburban New York school principal threatened to use a baseball bat to attack the father of a 6-year-old soccer player he was coaching.

Robert Riccuiti was arraigned Saturday on Long Island on a misdemeanor aggravated harassment charge.

Nassau County police say the boy’s father had questioned his son’s playing time and the soccer program.

Prosecutors say the 45-year-old Riccuiti responded with two emails containing foul, threatening language.

Electronic court records show Riccuiti did not enter a plea and was released without bail. A possible phone number for him wasn’t working Sunday. Newsday says he declined to comment after his release.

Ricuitti works at a Yonkers public school for both teens and adults working toward a high school diploma.
