COLUMBIA CITY, Ind. (AP) - Authorities have searched a bowling alley in northeastern Indiana after receiving a report of a hostage situation there but say they found no one inside.
Whitley County Emergency Management Agency Director Charlie Heflin says authorities received a report Sunday evening that a man had stabbed his girlfriend and was barricaded inside the building in Columbia City.
Sgt. Ron Galaviz says a state police SWAT team and hostage negotiators responded, along with Columbia City police.
A SWAT team robot was sent in to clear the scene. Galaviz said the team found no one was inside.
He says police are investigating the incident as a possible prank call.
Columbia City is about 20 miles northwest of Fort Wayne.
