NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - A boater has been rescued by the Coast Guard off the coast of Sandy Hook.

The call came in just before midnight Sunday to the Coast Guard Sector Command Center in Staten Island that a boat had failed to return to Ideal Beach in Middletown.

Coast Guard rescuers from Sandy Hook found the boat a little after midnight. The boat’s operator, a 32-year-old male, was conscious but showed signs of dehydration and hypothermia.

The rescue boat took the man to Belford Harbor, where emergency medical services took him to Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank.

The man was not identified and his condition was not immediately known.
