LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Little Rock transportation officials are preparing for the opening of a 13-mile bicycle and pedestrian trail near the Arkansas River.

The chairman of the Arkansas River Trail Task Force tells the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette (https://bit.ly/1FQZZ9n ) that the Southeast Trail should open next month. It will link the Arkansas River Trail in downtown Little Rock with David D. Terry Lock and Dam and provide an alternative to the Big Dam Bridge loop.

Detours are scheduled along the River Trail as the $98 million project to replace the Broadway Bridge on the Arkansas River progresses.

Little Rock cyclists say they are looking forward to the new offering.
