WESTERLY, R.I. (AP) - Police have identified a 28-year-old man from Westerly who died after falling 80 to 100 feet at a Westerly quarry.

Police identified Jack Daniels on Monday. Authorities said he and three others had been riding motorcycles on the quarry property. Police say Daniels was not on a motorcycle when he fell.

Westerly Police Chief Edward St. Clair said officers arrived at the quarry at about 2 a.m. Sunday.

St. Clair said officers found Daniels at the base of the quarry in serious condition. He was treated at the scene by members of the Westerly Ambulance Corps and Life Star, but died a short time later.

Police continue to investigate.
