SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Police in Utah’s capital city say a man has been hospitalized in critical condition after he was stabbed at a homeless shelter early on Memorial Day.

Salt Lake City police Lt. Michael Ross told KUTV-TV (https://bit.ly/1JRmOcN ) that two men were arguing outside the shelter downtown when one pulled out a knife and stabbed the other in the abdomen.

Ross says the suspect ran away and the victim was taken to the University of Utah’s medical center in critical condition.

Police are still trying to figure out what prompted the argument.

They have not released the identities of either man involved.
