HONOLULU (AP) - Hawaii County police have charged an 18-year-old with murder in his father’s death.

Police on Saturday responded to a report of a domestic dispute in Puna’s Fern Acres subdivision. They found medics treating an unconscious 47-year-old man. Jeffrey Kelly was taken to Hilo Medical Center, where he died.

On Sunday, police charged Kelly’s son, Forrest Keesler, with second-degree murder. Keesler couldn’t be reached for comment at the Hilo police cellblock, where he remains in custody. He’s scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.

Keesler’s stepmother tells Hawaii News Now (https://ow.ly/Npft9 ) he doesn’t belong in jail, but needs help for his dark and violent thoughts. Angela Bracamonte says Keesler is severely autistic and has always talked about wanting to kill his father.

Police did not say how Kelly was killed.
