WILSON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say they’re searching for a 16-year-old boy who went into a wooded area after crashing a vehicle in Michigan’s northern Lower Peninsula.

The Charlevoix County sheriff’s department says Jesse Bacon of East Jordan walked away from Monday afternoon’s crash in Wilson Township, saying he was heading home.

The department says Tuesday morning Bacon is missing; his parents and friends say they haven’t heard from him. A 16-year-old passenger was found about four hours after the crash, walking along a roadway. He was treated for minor injuries and released.

The sheriff’s department and East Jordan Fire Department officials at first searched the area for several hours. Later, sheriff’s officials searched with help from a state police helicopter and tracking dogs. Anyone with information is asked to contact the sheriff’s department.
