PLEASANTON, Calif. (AP) - A Northern California man suspected of driving drunk and killing a mother and her baby daughter has been arraigned on murder charges.
The Oakland Tribune reports Tuesday (https://bayareane.ws/1J3ZBTY) that 35-year-old Brian Jones of Livermore did not enter a plea.
Jones, who was charged last week, appeared in court Tuesday and did not speak. He is being held in jail without bail.
Police say Jones was driving up to 99 miles per hour and with a .14 blood alcohol level when he struck 46-year-old Esperanza Morales-Rodriguez and her 14-month-old daughter before driving into an apartment complex on May 2. Two other children were injured.
Jones’ attorney, Ernie Castillo, said Tuesday his client never intended to hurt or kill anybody.
