SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Bond has been set at $300,000 for a suspected car thief who led Scottsdale police on a hit-and-run spree and then a foot chase before being shot and arrested in Mesa.

Scottsdale police say 40-year-old Dennis Lee Burnette was released from a hospital Monday and booked into jail on numerous counts of aggravated assault, endangerment, unlawful flight from law enforcement and other charges.

He didn’t have an attorney at his initial court appearance Tuesday.

Burnette is accused of deliberately ramming two vehicles and trying to run over a police officer with a stolen pickup last Thursday.

A police officer shot at the truck, striking the driver three times in the upper torso.

Burnette led authorities on a chase before crashing the truck in Mesa while trying to navigate a turn.
