HONOLULU (AP) - The state Department of Labor and Industrial Relations says unemployment in Hawaii remained flat at a seasonally adjusted rate of 4.1 percent in April, the same as the previous three months.

The department said Tuesday nearly 650,000 people were employed during the month in Hawaii.

Nationally, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 5.4 percent in April, down from 5.5 percent in March.

The department says Hawaii’s educational and health services sectors added jobs compared to the previous year. But the construction, transportation and hospitality industries shed jobs.
