TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - A Manalapan man who worked as in-house counsel for a home health care company has admitted stealing more than $2 million from his employer.

Matthew Neugeboren pleaded guilty in federal court in Trenton on Tuesday.

The 39-year-old pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud and one count of subscribing to a false tax return. The wire fraud count carries a maximum sentence of 20 years.

Prosecutors contended that between 2008 and 2012 Neugeboren used an attorney trust account to steal more than $2.6 million from the Ocean County-based company by transferring more money than was needed to cover company expenses.

He also failed to include about $630,000 in gross income on his taxes for 2011 that he received from the scheme.

Neugeboren is scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 3.
